Happy New Year everyone

A man once told me "if I want to make money.. look towards the advancement of technology".... I want to make art... in a free-holding house not too far from the city, inspired by my wife and kids and the adventures we share from traveling different parts of the world...

...and so...

Like most people around this time, goals are made. I'm not a big fan New Year specific goals , I much rather just keep it growing 24/7, 365. But, if I had to make one it would definitely be to share and get connected with more artists from the animation industry, gaming industry, music industry, and most of all the passionate men and women I feel are truly artist within the software/hardware engineering sector.

I had the pleasure of being introduced to him at Toronto's Industry Night that was promoting TAAFI, through my bredren, Freddie Carrasco . What caught me about his work was the energy he put into creating a piece for every track on Jay Z and Kanye West's Watch The Throne album. He's a young artist just starting out in Oakvilles Sheridan College animation program. So take the time to check out his blog, "right-click and save as" and or "assign to wallpaper". A couple months ago me along with other flash animators and designers at House Of Cool worked on a couple of commercials that were for Microsoft/Bing and Intel. The commercial spots used characters that were developed at house of Cool called The Lebrons. As much as they were uploaded onto Lebron's youtube channel, they were restricted in some countries...Canada being on of them. I'm not sure whether they are visible now but there is Vimeo Channel belonging to the director. The commercials were animated in Flash in house, while the episodes were animated over-seas. It was a great project to work on with extremely talented team of designers and animators.....

I have been using gouache as a medium to explore shape with the characters. its also a nice aesthetic break from sitting in front of a cintiq all day. I am still getting ready for CTNX...this project of mine will forever be on going , for the fish characters I've shown are part of one chapter in Helen's pursuit for whats rightfully her's . I reember working with Carlton, and we would have long convos on the Steeles Bus ride East about the industry and making a difference... at least for ourselves and our careers. Months later (nearly a year) he did what he said he would and created a comic book series that has caught the attention of several established web sites , one being Canadian Animation Resources. Whats up, some of you may know about my "Grey Box Theory" and some may not. Its really up for interpretation. But for the most part, I like to share progress and I'm a bit of a blog-a-holic. Due to recent advances in technology, followed by a a need of more 3D artistry, I'm looking forward to seeing IF..key word IF i can commit and pull off the look i want in 3D. I won't lie.. I will abandon 3D as a tool if it is not working out since this is just a piece that I like to a degree where it has direction.. the next step..bringing it to life.

...:::Some recent freelance work I did over the weekend for Page for a music video called "Surrounded By Killas". Disappointed to say that nothing was used. HAPPY to say that Page has good invision in terms of not associating slighlty graphic and aggressive (negative) "cartoon" images of him. I co-sign move. A guy who seems far from a softy, I just appreciate the fact that he's intentional with what he's putting out there. To be honest I havent got a chance to hear the song, and i was asked to do mug shots of the two artist, BRISCO and PAGE. Nonetheless I had fun doing these giving me a "white canvas" to once again work with and to experiment on:::...

???IDEA: It would be cool if I did a comic in that look with that style for envirnment. propably done...so i am really just talking for myself???

::: HHHHMMMMM.... No matter how I try to escape the clutches of Flash, it just finds its way back into my life with its proficiency to almost create what ever comes to mind. I think I'm fully co-signing Flash as my tool of choice when blocking in motion graphics and traditional animation. But if anybody has any critiques or comments regarding other tools I can use to pull off this simple look let me know. I'd like to explore other programs to finalize some of my works. The only other I would use is After effects.....:::

...ROTTEN TOMATOES is a project out of the many that I have finally decided to go ahead and develop. As far as I know its original and straight from the dome. Without saying much it involves the little old lady you've seen on previous post in this blog. Honestly, You're going to watch this and either laugh, be completely confused, or angry that i wasted your time. This series of progressive rough cuts is really for you to check them out and laugh at my first attempt to make a student animated short solo. As you see the progression the story will make sense. By then I'll be chuckling a bit with my head in my hands saying "WTF!?

I havent said much from the last couple of post but I'd like to say that in a perfect world these would already be finished and in a book that you would've gotten last year.

Also...I've been really really busy with side projects that when i get the "Go Ahead" to post them up I think it'll make my blog look.... better. In the mean time I'll be dumping Animal sketches (not finals yet) , women, cars, buildings, some 3D more so.

So critique and comments will greatly be appreciated as I venture into designing things with more of a focus...on stuff i haven't drawn yet.
